The depth and breadth of Mantofa’s spiritual vision and insight carries a passion for humanity that is forcefully expressed not only in his crusades, but also through his art and essays.
Philip Mantofa, born in 1974, his early life was filled with violence and blasphemy. It all changed, when the 18-year-old Mantofa experienced his turning point. He encountered a radical transformation on his journey of faith, and it continues until now.
Graduated from Columbia Bible College in Canada, he embarked on his calling in the country where he was born, Indonesia. Mantofa ignited national revival filled with signs, wonders, and miracles. Now, he is known as the senior pastor of GMS in Surabaya, who is leading, overseeing, and mentoring active church members, branch churches, and church pastors around the globe.
First painted at the age of 6, when he won the second prize in an art competition, never once did it cross his mind to be an artist until he turned 40. In 2014 to be exact, Mantofa realized that painting is the best way to preserve and share hundreds of his prophetic dreams and visions; he, then, finally decided to depict what he has seen on canvases. Ever since, his prophetic paintings, which carry powerful life-transforming messages, have deeply spoken to, impacted, and anointed the lives of many, leading them into hope and drawing people into the power of redemption.
The first solo exhibition for Mantofa’s paintings, “Visions from Above”, was held in 2015, at Artrue Gallery in Taipei, which then continued onwards to Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur, Tainan, and Shenzhen.
With the loving support of his wife and three children, Mantofa paints to express, and not to impress — inspiring men to love God!
